Service in retail significantly worse than in restaurants and bars
Retail consultancy him! has dished out some interesting statistics that shows the places where UK adults believe they receive poor service.
Unsurprisingly, it seems that where little competition exists then the worst service is to be found. Train and bus companies receive 72 per cent dissatisfaction votes with local councils just behind on 66 per cent. Motorway service stations are closely on their tale, which is undoubtedly why renowned chef Heston Blumenthall was brought in by Little Chef. In contrast pubs and bars are believed to offer poor service by only 14 per cent of people and restaurants by a mere 12 per cent.
Retail is in the middle of the table, which is rather poor when you consider that improving customer service in these tough times has been talked about by many merchants. Judging by these numbers it would seem that it is all mouth and very little action.
