Secret Sales appoints former ASOS senior merchandiser as head of trading

Online marketplace Secret Sales has appointed former ASOS senior merchandiser Peter Coombes as head of trading.

Hired to lead the company’s category trading team, he will also develop organisational capability and commercial strategies to maximise merchandise value for the 900 fashion, beauty and homeware brands selling on the site.

Coombes began his career as merchandiser at TK Maxx and Homesense where he worked for nine years. In addition to leading and developing a large team, he also helped launch a successful jewellery business within the group.

After joining ASOS in 2015, he spent time leading both the menswear and womenswear merchandising teams. This included overseeing significant growth and creating one of the largest businesses within the company in terms of revenue, SKU count and staff.

In his new role, Coombes will report to Secret Sales’ chief trading officer Shahnila Rashid.

Chris Griffin, chief executive of Secret Sales, said: “Peter is the latest key addition to our pool of industry talent. He understands how we’re changing the fashion industry with our brand-enhancing discount marketplace model and why it is so appealing to brands and retailers. His expertise in non full price merchandising at a senior level will advance our trading capabilities and bring huge benefits to our brand partners.”
