ScS Upholstery sees order growth

Expansion plans on track
ScS Upholstery has seen healthy order growth across the six months to the end of March despite a generally tough market for big-ticket purchases.

The furniture retailer said that total sales order intake for the first half of its financial year has been significantly higher than the same period last year. “With gross margins in line with expectation, we anticipate reporting pre-tax profits for the six months ended March 31 2005 materially ahead of the corresponding period last year.”
Like-for-like sales order intake was up 7 per cent across the half, down from the 11 per cent reported at the ScS annual meeting, due in part to poor winter weather in February and early March. Trading over the subsequent Easter weekend was marginally ahead of last year..
ScS has opened new stores in Watford and Leeds, with 66 stores now trading “and we remain on track with our expansion plans for the remainder of the financial year.”
