Scottish Retail Consortium appoints new director
The Scottish Retail Consortium has appointed David Lonsdale as its new director. Lonsdale will replace Fiona Moriarty who is stepping down after more than ten years to set up her own consultancy.
Due to join the SRC in January, Lonsdale is currently assistant director at the Confederation of British Industry in Scotland. In his new role, he will be responsible for leading the implementation of BRC strategy across all of the devolved nations.
The SRC said Lonsdale would bring a wealth of public policy, political lobbying and media experience to the role.
Helen Dickinson, director general of the British Retail Consortium, said: “Fiona has worked tirelessly for the SRC and our members in Scotland and we are grateful for her enormous contribution and commitment to our success in Scotland. We wish Fiona all the best as she embarks on her new endeavours and at the same time we very much look forward to David picking up the baton and joining the retail sector.”
Ken MacKenzie, chair of the SRC Board added: “David will be a worthy successor to Fiona and all the great work she has done for the SRC in the last ten years. Our SRC retail members will be very pleased to know their interests will continue to be led by someone who brings such solid experience of working in industry in Scotland.”
