Science Museum returns to Bluewater

The Science Museum is opening a pop-up shop at Bluewater for the second year running in the lead-up to Christmas.

The 1,250 square foot shop will be situated on the upper Thames Walk, adjacent to House of Fraser and Early Learning Centre, and will be open from 19 October to 31 December.

The store will aim to bring science to life for visitors to the Kent retail destination through regular in-store science demonstrations and experiments taking place during half terms and weekends. The store will also stock a range of gifts and merchandise.

Paul Widgery, group retail manager at the Science Museum, said: “We were once again drawn to Bluewater due to its high footfall, especially in the run up to Christmas. Our return gives us a chance to build on the success from last year and look at how we can continue to deliver other revenue opportunities outside the museum.”

The return of the Science Museum follows on from other educational events held this year at the Land Securities operated Bluewater, including The LEGO Friends Pop Star Tour Bus and the Gruffalo Experience.

Russell Loveland, portfolio director at Land Securities, said: “We are very pleased to welcome the Science Museum back to Bluewater for a second consecutive year. Their unique and innovative pop-up will capture the imagination of our guests and complement our strategy to deliver an exceptional and immersive experience.”

Bluewater will also see the opening of watchmaker Breitling’s standalone store on 16 October. In addition, Next is planning to open an upsized store and Nespresso will launch a new boutique at the centre.
