Sainsbury’s strengthens clothing and merchandise teams

Sainsbury’s has announced two key appointments to strengthen its clothing and general merchandise leadership teams.

James Brown will be moving from his role as trading director clothing, footwear, home and furniture at Littlewoods Shop Direct to take up the position of as business unit director, clothing where he will be responsible for growing the retailer’s successful Tu clothing range.

Robbie Feather will join as business unit director, general merchandise and will oversee all of Sainsbury’s general merchandise including home wares and electrical.  Feather joins Sainsbury’s from John Lewis where he was buying director for electrical and home technology goods. Prior to this he was the managing director of furniture retailer Feather & Black.

Mike Coupe, Sainsbury’s Group commercial director said: “I am delighted to welcome James and Robbie to Sainsbury’s. They bring a wealth of experience and have worked for some of the UK’s most successful retailers.”

He added: “I am sure they will make great additions to our team and will play a key role as we continue with our exciting expansion plans for non-food.”
