Royal Mail launches TV advert ahead of festive parcels boom

Royal Mail has launched a new TV advert that reminds consumers and business customers of the different ways they can send and return parcels in the run-up to Christmas.

Called  Postage That Fits Around You, it highlights the company’s Click & Drop service and encourages consumers to get ahead of the Christmas rush when shopping online and posting cards and parcels.

Available online and via mobile app, Click & Drop enables marketplace sellers and consumers to pay online and print labels at home or at a Royal Mail customer service point then post them at one of 14,000 locations around the UK.

Royal Mail is expecting this Christmas to be one of its busiest ever after parcel volumes rose by 34% from April to August as more people shopped online during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The company will be hiring around 33,000 temporary workers to help 115,000 permanent postmen and women sort the Christmas post this year. In addition, it has acquired two new temporary sort centres in Northampton and Milton Keynes and introduced a new ‘Parcel Collect’ service where postmen and women can now collect parcels from customers’ doorsteps while delivering items on their daily round.

Natalie Thomas, marketing & digital director at Royal Mail, said: ““Responding to consumer and SME demand in parcel delivery is an absolute priority for us, and this has become even more significant given that so many of us are spending more time at home now. We’re delighted to be raising awareness of both the Click & Drop and Parcel Collect services in this way, and we hope it will encourage many more consumers and SMEs to take advantage of these fast, easy-to-use services.”

The advert was developed by MBA while media planning and buying was handled by Havas Media Group.
