River Island opens at Flemingate

River Island has opened a new store at Flemingate, the 162,500 square foot retail and leisure development in Beverley.

Designed in-house, the 10,066 square foot shop follows the same format as the brand’s stores in Birmingham, Liverpool, and Oxford Street and Marble Arch in London.

River Island joins a number of prominent fashion retailers at the Flemingate, including Debenhams, H&M and the recently opened Peacocks.

Holly Fulco of River Island said: “Flemingate’s position at the heart of an affluent catchment area made it a very attractive proposition for us. It is a growing retail location that we were very keen to be a part of and we are delighted to open the store.”

The arrival of River Island marks the fifth new opening at Flemingate in the past six weeks, following launches for Baytree Interiors, Peacocks, Riva Lounge and Gourmet Burger Kitchen.

Other brands at Flemingate include Debenhams, H&M, Wilkinson, Poundland, Trespass, The Entertainer, Greggs, Costa and local independents, Bolo and Guest & Philips.

David Donkin, property director at Wykeland Group, said: “River Island is renowned for stylish, affordable fashion and is a well-loved high street brand. It is another great addition to Flemingate’s line-up. Combined with our other fashion brands, Debenhams, H&M and Peacocks, Flemingate has brought something very different to Beverley and the surrounding area. That is being reflected in the centre’s growing popularity with consumers from throughout the region.”
