Retailers Against Harassment Certification wins Legal Innovator Award
The pioneering Retailers Against Harassment Certification, created by Foot Anstey LLP and The Retail Trust, has won the “Legal Innovator Award” at this year’s Bristol Law Society Awards.
Foot Anstey’s Retail and Consumer sector team created the Retailers Against Harassment Certification in conjunction with the retail sector trade body, The Retail Trust after the law firm surveyed retail workers and found nearly two thirds (61%) of shopworkers had experienced offensive behaviour at work which caused stress, anxiety and a loss of self-esteem.
Launched in 2022, the Certification aims to give retailers and their employees greater knowledge and understanding of how to tackle harassment and create safer working environments. Once a retailer has signed up, they undergo a full audit before receiving recommendations and advice.
Nathan Peacey, Head of Retail and Consumer at Foot Anstey said: “The ongoing harassment that shopworkers face is harrowing. We created the Certification in partnership with The Retail Trust to bolster retailers in improving processes and measures to create safer working environments.”
“We’re proud that the Certification has received this recognition. Retailers are aware of the rise in harassment their employees face, and we are pleased to be able to offer a solution that can combat harassment through the combined expertise at Foot Anstey and The Retail Trust
It’s a testament to the team’s efforts to drive change and safer working environments in the retail sector.”
