Retail Trust joins forces with Rightsteps to tackle mental health
Retail Trust, the charity that looks after the needs of people working in retail, has teamed up with Turning Point Rightsteps Wellbeing to help employees who are struggling with mental health issues.
Retail Trust supports retail staff by offering counselling and hardship grants as well as advice on a range of issues such as debt and employment law. Through the new partnership, it has expanded the range of services available within its Retail Employee Assistance Programme to include access to the Rightsteps Wellbeing programme.
Rightsteps Wellbeing delivers telephone based cognitive behavioural therapy to support employees struggling with the most common forms of mental health issues such as stress and depression. The programme consists of an initial assessment followed by telephone based CBT counselling and self-guided help, both of which is aimed at helping employees to manage their mental health and return to work or maintain attendance.
Cliff Lee from Rightsteps Wellbeing explained: “Stress and other mental health related issues affect one in six workers across England and Wales and are the most widespread causes of long-term work place absence.
Never Miss a Retail Update!“Rightsteps Wellbeing provides access to effective support mechanisms for employees when they are struggling with conditions such as stress, anxiety or depression, conditions which if not supported can result in absence and presenteeism. It is hugely important that employees are able to access the support they need, when they need it, to avoid their mental health deteriorating.”
Richard Boland, chief executive of Retail Trust, added: “Having Turning Point on board within our retail Employee Assistance Programme enables us to expand the reach of our services, caring for those in retail who are suffering from mental health issues.”
“Our partnership means we can help those who need it most – whether their problems are big or small.”
