Strong interest in DIY retailers
Three major private equity players are reported to be interested in acquiring DIY retailer Focus Wickes.
Cinven, Permira and CVC, all regular investors in the retail sector, have separately registered their interest with Duke Street Capital, the venture capitalist which is looking to sell its majority stake in Focus Wickes, according to The Times.
Plumbing supplier Wolseley, and builders’ merchants Travis Perkins are also said to be potential buyers for the business, which has successful trade and consumer retail arms. The group operates more than 250 Focus DIY stores, and around 170 Wickes trade supply stores.
