Princes Square brings new retailers to Scotland
Links of London, Furla and Dower & Hall open first Scottish stores
Princes Square, the Glasgow shopping destination offering a mix of fashion, lifestyle and contemporary dining, has announced a wave of new lettings, with retailers choosing the centre as a location for their first Scottish store.
Links of London, Furla, Dower & Hall, Louise Shafar, Irrocco Patisserie and Brownns are all taking new units and Lacoste is doubling the size of its existing store.
Upmarket jewellers Links of London and Dower & Hall, and Italian fine leather retailer Furla have all chosen Princes Square as the location for their first Scottish store.
This reinforces Glasgow and indeed Princes Square’s status as the most desirable place in the UK, outside London, for shopping.
Dower & Hall, the Knightsbridge-based designer jeweller, will open a store offering a full range of designs, including the Daniel Dower Precious range, a bespoke service, and a selection of other British jewellery designers.
Links of London’s store is their 15th outlet in the UK and notable customers of Links of London include Sex and the City’s Sarah Jessica Parker and Hollywood star Reece Wetherspoon.
Furla will open a new store offering a range of high quality handbags, shoes and other leather accessories.
Louise Shafar is a local jewellery designer-retailer with one existing store in the prosperous Glasgow suburb of Giffnook. The store at Princes Square will offer a range of fine gold, silver and diamond designer jewellery.
Brownns will offer a selection of leading designer names in female fashion such as D&G, Moschino and up and coming new labels, Custo, Toy G and Out of Exile.
These new lettings reflect the active asset management strategy by the centre’s owners, Hermes and Insight Investment Management, to continually enhance the retail offer. Asset Manager Teesland is reporting substantial increases in turnover for the centre. All units have been let on a 10-year lease with a turnover-linked rent.
Nigel Mogridge of Teesland said: “This run of new lettings reinforce Princes Square as one of the country’s hottest urban retail, dining and leisure spend destinations. Glasgow shoppers are amongst the most discerning and sophisticated in the UK and they appreciate the vibrant mix of fashion, jewellery, gifts, accessories, bodycare and other indulgences that Princes Square has to offer.
“Whilst much of Glasgow has suffered from the impact of the out-of-town schemes we are pleased to report that Princes Square has bucked the trend and average turnover continues to increase year on year. Princes Square has no real competition and our customers make it a destination.”
Other retailers at Princes Square include Jo Malone, Bo Concept, Whistles, Space NK, Ted Baker, CK Underwear, Hugo Boss, French Connection, Penhaligons, Linn Hi-Fi and Reiss.
