Primark sales on steady course
Store revamps for clothing retailer
September 8 2003
UK value clothing retailer Primark has seen steady like-for-like sales over the past six months.
The chain’s owner, Associated British Foods, said Primark’s growth in the second half of the year has been broadly similar to the first half, described as ‘strong’ when Associated reported its results for the 24 weeks to March 1,
Two new stores have opened this year, including a major outlet in Birmingham, and three existing stores were refitted or extended. Primark now operates 116 stores.
With its full year ending on September 13, Associated said most of its businesses have made good progress across the second half.
Among its food brands, the integration of Ovaltine, acquired last year, with the existing Twinings business has progressed “very well.”
