Poundworld opens 200th store
Single price retailer Poundworld has reached a new milestone in its expansion strategy with the opening of its 200th store.
The shop, which is located in Berkshire’s Newbury Retail Park, is the 44th Poundworld store to be opened in 2012. The opening was attended by the town’s Lord Mayor and the retailer handed out a range of free gifts to customers.
Poundworld said: “After 15 years of offering great choice, brands and deals, we are delighted to have reached the milestone of 200 stores. We hope to build on this positive growth by opening a further 250 stores by the end of 2017 and we look forward to welcoming even more cost-conscious shoppers through our doors.”
Founded in 2004 after rebranding from Everything’s a £1, Poundworld expects the additional 250 stores to create around 10,000 jobs.
