Poundworld launches new Bargain Buys fascia
Single price retailer Poundworld has launched a new multi-price brand Bargain Buys to replace its existing Discount UK chain.
With the first Bargains Buys store opening earlier this month at Reedswood Retail Park in Walsall, Poundworld said the new chain is set to rival major discount chains Home Bargains and B&M Bargains.
A total of 35 Discount UK stores will be rebranded to Bargain Buys in the next six months while new stores will open later this month in Ashton, Sheffield Meadowhall and Rochdale. The company plans to roll out the Bargain Buys chain across the UK, opening 20 further stores in the next 12 months.
Chris Edwards Junior, trading director at Bargain Buys, said: “Discount UK was launched in 2010 and it was our first multi-price project. When we first started we had to build a product range up – we started with around 6,000 products and now with Bargain Buys we have a range of over 8,000. Discount UK was performing well but we’ve learnt so much from it and now is the ideal time to present to customers what we’ve achieved in the form of Bargain Buys.
“Our first store in Walsall is performing very well and we look forward to bringing the brand to even more towns and cities across the UK.”
Bargain Buys is the latest development in Poundworld’s ongoing expansion which will include the opening of a further 100 stores in the next three years.
