Poundland to hire 2,500 Christmas workers
Single price discount retailer Poundland is to recruit 2,500 seasonal workers to help with the busy Christmas period.
Now serving an average of 4.8 million customers every week, the retailer is hiring 25% more temporary workers than at Christmas last year with sales assistant positions expected to be available in most stores across the country. The retailer is also offering 160 temporary roles at its Dealz stores in the Republic of Ireland.
Poundland chief executive Jim McCarthy, said: “The festive period is always an especially busy time for Poundland as our value-conscious customers look to stock up on Christmas decorations, stocking fillers and gifts.
“The employment market for the retail sector is still fragile and so we are really proud to have significantly increased our temporary vacancies this year.”
Poundland said nearly 35% of temporary workers employed last Christmas have been given permanent roles within the business.
