Poundland strengthens board with two new non-exec directors

Poundland has strengthened its board with the appointment of two new independent non-executive directors.

Miles Roberts has been appointed as a non-executive director and senior independent director and will also be a member of the audit, remuneration and nominations committees.  He is currently group chief executive of recycled packaging supplier DS Smith. Prior to that he was chief executive of McBride.

In a second appointment, Tim Jones has become an independent non-executive director and will also serve as chairman of the audit and risk committee. A chartered accountant, he is currently group finance director of Mitchells & Butlers.  Previous positions include group finance director of Interserve and other senior finance roles both in the UK and overseas.

Poundland chairman Darren Shapland, said:  “These appointments to the Board are a major boost to Poundland.  Both Miles and Tim will bring valuable senior experience in strategic development and sound financial performance that will be a great asset to Poundland as we continue to grow the business in the UK and abroad.”

Roberts and Jones will take up their positions on 30 October.
