Poundland rolls out rewards app nationwide
Poundland is rolling out its rewards app to all stores following a successful trial in around 100 shops in the Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Downloadable in the Google Play and Apple App stores, Poundland Perks will offer customers at least 100 perks offers in the app at any one time.
Customers will be able to earn ‘perks points’ when they spend in different parts of the store. Once they have amassed 5,000 points, they can turn them into digital reward vouchers to spend in stores or online, or to save for a bigger purchase.
To celebrate the launch, Poundland is is giving customers 100 points for every pound they spend until Christmas.
Shoppers can also win points and prizes can via the app’s ‘Spin to Winsday’ game which will take place on Wednesdays from 23 October.
Poundland is hitting the road on a nationwide tour that will see its caravan café, supported by Nescafe, pitch up in major towns and cities to encourage customers to download the app and save, earn and play.
Tom Hill, Poundland director of digital, said: “Today’s a really important day for our customers as we open up a new digital world that gives them the chance to save, earn and play through their smartphone, making shopping with us even more fun, and even more amazing value – whether in store or online.
“Thanks to our pilots in Scotland, Northern Ireland and on the Isle of Wight, we’ve created an app that’s convenient and easy for people to use in store, with reward vouchers that help customers save even more.
“So far, we’ve already had over 500,000 customers sign up through our digital platforms and are looking forward to welcoming many more.”
To bring the new functionality and enhanced value to UK shoppers, Poundland is also investing around £20 million in the roll-out of state-of-the-art tills and faster and simpler self-checkouts.
The rewards app can currently be used by customers on their phones at every manned checkout and will be fully compatible with all self-service tills by 1 December.
