Poundland Local to open in Sutton Coldfield this week

Poundland is putting the finishing touches to its new Poundland Local store in Sutton Coldfield’s Boldmere ahead of its opening on 13 August.

Spanning 1,851 square feet, the shop is smaller than a typical Poundland store and has been designed to offer a tailored range of products for people who live or work in the Boldmere area.

The store will offer everyday items from Poundland’s core range including groceries, snacks, drinks, household products, health and beauty items and batteries. In addition, customers will find a convenience offering spanning fresh fruit, vegetables, beers, wines and spirits, as well bread, pastries and hot pies. It will also be one of the growing number of Poundland stores to offer chilled and frozen food.

The store will complement the existing regular Poundland shops in Sutton Coldfield at The Parade and Princess Alice Retail Park.

Poundland director of retail Darren Kay said: “As a West Midlands-based business, we’re delighted that we’re now able to bring our Poundland Local pilot to the region. Boldmere Road has been designed to offer shoppers everything they would expect in a neighbourhood convenience store and at Poundland’s amazing value which is more important than ever when household budgets are under so much pressure.”

Having begun the Poundland Local trial in May 2021, the retailer is actively looking for other suitable locations for the fascia. Last week Poundland confirmed that it will be working to open 25 new or relocated stores by the end of the year.
