Poundland creates 250 jobs through new warehouse
Single price retailer Poundland has opened a new 200,000 square foot distribution centre in Hertfordshire, creating 250 jobs for local people.
The warehouse in Hoddesdon will support Poundland’s plans to open an additional 60 new stores this financial year, and will be used as a regional facility to service its stores throughout southern England.
Andy Monk, Poundland’s distribution director, said: “The warehouse is our first major expansion outside of the West Midlands. It enables us to take our products closer to customers and reduce the number of road miles travelled to deliver stock to our stores.”
Local MP, Charles Walker, MP Broxbourne who attended the opening, added: “Poundland’s new distribution centre has been a great boost for employment in the community. The Hoddesdon area is excited to welcome Poundland to the region and look forward to its continued growth in the area.”
