Poundland has reported its “biggest ever” Halloween results as sales this year rose 11% on 2011.
The single price retailer said the increasing popularity of Halloween in the UK led to a surge in shopping sales in the lead up to 31 October as it sold 360,000 Halloween masks, 590,000 face painting kits, 100,000 light-up ghosts and 90,000 Halloween glow sticks.
It also sold 2.3 million themed disposable paper cups and 1.5 million paper plates and napkins as customers stocked up for their Halloween parties.
David Coxon, trading director at Poundland said: “2012 has been a great year for us and the latest sales results show just how important Halloween has become.”
