Play.com customer details stolen in security breach

The Jersey-based retailer sent an email to all customers advising the issue occurred outside of Play.com and said that credit card details held at its main site have not been affected.

Play.com said it took security and privacy seriously and apologised to customers, adding that it is taking every step to ensure a similar breach does not happen again.

The online retailer is now the second largest online gadget and games retailer to the UK from its Jersey base. Founded in 1998, Play.com now has around 7 million registered customers.
