Plans submitted for transformation of Intu Milton Keynes
A planning application has been submitted for the transformation of the Intu Milton Keynes shopping centre.
The proposals designed by 3DReid architects include plans for the redevelopment of the centre’s Midsummer Boulevard and Oak Court and the addition of a further 100,000 square feet of space.
When completed, the scheme will include new flagship stores, a new dining quarter and a five-screen boutique cinema.
Martin Breeden, regional director of Intu, said: “Oak Court and the boulevard are busy thoroughfares but not great pieces of public space. These proposals will create outstanding areas overlooked by prime, flagship retail stores and the best catering quarter in Milton Keynes.”
Outside the shopping centre, new landscaped areas will provide a relaxing space for local people throughout the day and the boulevard will be used for community events and entertainment.
With a 1.6 million catchment, Intu Milton Keynes is anchored by Debenhams while other retailers include Apple, Hollister, H&M, Hugo Boss, Superdry and Zara.
