Plans submitted for new retail-led scheme in Woking town centre

A planning application has submitted for a new retail-led scheme in Woking as part of redevelopment plans for the western part of the town centre.

The Victoria Square proposal includes 125,000 sq ft of new retail floor space anchored by a 60,000 sq ft Marks & Spencer. The plans also feature a 190 bed four star hotel, 392 residential apartments, 380 additional car parking spaces, and two new public plazas.

The development will be delivered by Bandstand Square Developments, a joint venture between Moyallen, the owners of Peacocks Shopping Centre, Surrey County Council and Woking Borough Council.

Commenting on the proposal, Councillor John Kingsbury, Leader of Woking Borough Council, said: “The proposals provide a unique opportunity to improve the town centre facilities for residents and visitors and to attract new business. With up to 730 jobs being created, Victoria Square will provide an exciting new quarter for Woking, anchored by Marks & Spencer, who are making a welcome return to the town”.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

Peter Robinson, managing director of Moyallen, added: “Victoria Square will be a high quality addition to the existing Woking Shopping offer, complementing the strong line-up of brands with new retailers and other amenities, led by a flagship Marks and Spencer. The plans add to the sense of momentum in Woking.”
