Plans submitted for new cinema and leisure scheme at The Broadway
The owner of The Broadway shopping centre in Bradford has submitted a planning application to Bradford Council for a state-of- the-art cinema to adjoin the new scheme.
Meyer Bergman’s planning application seeks permission to transform the mainly vacant property at 14-20 Broadway into a six-screen cinema, dining and leisure development.
If approved, the scheme will create a further 100 jobs when complete, together with the 2,500 jobs that will be created when The Broadway shopping centre opens in November.
A Meyer Bergman spokesperson said: “We are very pleased that through working closely with Bradford Council and local stakeholders, we are able to bring forward our application. Whilst The Broadway shopping centre already has an enviable location, we intend to add to this distinctive environment through this scheme.
“Local people voiced their opinions and we are confident that as well as offering a scheme that complements The Broadway shopping centre, it will also deliver local jobs and provide high-quality retail and leisure.”
Over 70% of the £260 million shopping centre’s units have now been filled, with retailers such as Debenhams, Next, H&M and Marks & Spencer all taking space.
