Planning permission secured for new outlet village in Grantham
Full planning permission has been granted for a new designer outlet village in Grantham in Lincolnshire.
The centre will be developed by designer outlet village specialist Rioja Developments and property investment business Buckminster
Spanning 270,000 square feet of landscaped grounds, it will be home to 130 luxury brands and will launch in the spring of 2021.
Situated close to the A1 on the southern edge of Grantham, the scheme will create approximately 1,500 jobs. Plans include a direct link onto the new Southern Relief Road for easy access from the A1, as well as a bus service to connect the railway station and Grantham town centre.
In addition to retail outlets, the centre will include a range of cafes, restaurants, public spaces, play areas, 1,800 parking spaces and a visitor and tourism centre.
Giles Membrey, managing director of Rioja Development, said, “Grantham Designer Outlet presents a unique opportunity for premium brands to bring their outlet offerings to an affluent audience that currently lacks easy access to this kind of retail destination. It is one of the last gaps in the market for a premium outlet village of this size and may well be the last of this style to be developed in the UK.”
The £100 million scheme is expected to attract 3.5 million visitors per year.
Stephen Vickers, managing director of Buckminster, added: The outlet village will be an ideal partner to the town centre, attracting visitors from further afield and, in turn, helping to drive a new audience into the town.”
Leasing will begin in September 2018 and construction will begin on-site in spring 2019.
