Pet superstore honoured for customer service
February 6 2004
Pet superstore chain Pets at Home has won the prestigious Global PETS Award for 2004, recognising its high levels of customer service.
Cheshire-based Pets at Home was awarded with the title at the annual Global PETS Forum in Amsterdam.
An online poll by readers of PETS International Magazine was confirmed with a final voting and election by delegates at Global PETS Forum 2004, with this years’ conference theme Customer is King in mind.
Anthony Preston, chairman and chief executive of Pets at Home, received the award from the organiser of the Forum, Reinder Sterenborg. He was also handed a specially commissioned oil-painting by Toos van Holstein, a well-known European artist.
Preston said: “I’m delighted with this result. It is always an honour to be recognised by our customers and our industry peers, and this is a tremendous achievement that illustrates the hard work of all the staff at Pets at Home.”
Last year the retailer was named the country’s fastest growing company – and the 11th in Europe – in the Europe’s 500 listing, which identifies the 500 most successful companies across 18 European countries based on job creation, sales performance and profit over a five year period.
Pets at Home started with a single store in 1991 and opens its 151st store this month. Along with 4,000 products for cats, dogs, birds and small animals, Pets at Home’s superstores feature gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits, coldwater and tropical fish and an array of UK birds.
