Pets at Home new CEO starts in role

Pets at Home has announced that its new chief executive, Peter Pritchard, has taken up his position with effect from today.

The retailer revealed last November that Pritchard had been promoted to the role.

Pritchard joined Pets at Home in 2011 as commercial director and was subsequently appointed to the position of chief executive of retail in 2015. Having worked in retail for 30 years, his previous experience also includes senior operational roles at Asda, Sainsbury’s, Iceland, Marks & Spencer and Wilkinson Hardware Stores.

At Pets at Home, Pritchard has been credited with the establishment of its sourcing office in China, the launch of its VIP club, the development of its omnichannel strategy, and the repositioning of its merchandise business.

The company’s previous chief executive, Ian Kellet, will remain with the business until the end of May to complete a handover process with Pritchard.

Kellett informed the Pets at Home board in November of his intention to step down in order to pursue his own personal business interests.
