Pets at Home on track after successful third quarter

Pets at Home has reported a record-breaking performance in its third quarter which included its biggest ever online and offline trading days.

In the 12 weeks to 2 January, group revenue rose by 7.9% to £255.9 million after retail and omnichannel revenue increased by 7.2% and  23.4% respectively. Like-for-like retail revenue jumped by 7%.

There was also an uplift in vet group revenue which rose by 14.4%. On like-for-like basis vet group sales were up 8.9%.

The retailer’s grooming salons put in particularly strong performance in the quarter and groomed a total 6,023 dogs in a single day. Pets at Home also launched a further nine new format pet care centres during the period.

Paets at Home chief executive Peter Pritchard (pictured) said: “Our sales performance in the quarter proves once again that by offering convenient and affordable pet care to customers, we can further strengthen our market leading position.  Against a backdrop of unprecedented consumer volatility, our continued momentum leaves us very much on track with our plans for the year.”

Hear Peter Pritchard speak at Retail Bulletin’s Omnichannel Futures Conference on 5 February. A must-attend event for anyone working in a senior retail role, tickets are available at a half price discounted rate for Retail Bulletin readers which means you can attend for just £125.
