Peel Outlets has reported that footfall across its Gloucester and Manchester outlet centres rose by two million in the last financial year.

In the last 12 months, 9.6 million people visited the Gloucester Quays and Lowry Outlet centres with sales in the outdoor and sport, food and beverage, and mixed fashion categories being particularly strong.

While outdoor and sport grew its sales by 40%, food and beverage sales and mixed fashion sales increased by 36% and 35% respectively.

Brands to open stores at the centres in the last year include Jaeger, Chester Barrie of Saville Row, The North Face, Clarks, Jaeger, TGI Fridays, Coal Grill & Bar, O2, and Bill’s Restaurant. Additional leisure deals have seen Virgin Active extend its health and fitness centre to twice its size at Lowry Outlet, to help accommodate the 25,000 office workers at MediaCityUK Manchester.

Jason Pullen, managing director at Peel Outlets, said: “The emphasis for Peel Outlets is on creating a unique experience for its consumers in waterfront locations. We achieve this through a unique mix of retail, dining and leisure operators coupled with an impactful events programme which delivers increases footfall and sales for our tenants. It is a formula that is highly successful for us and one we will be continuing to build on in the year ahead.”
