Peacocks sales see post Christmas surge

Improved performance forecast by clothing discounter

Clothing retailer Peacocks saw group like-for-like sales increase by 10 per cent in the five weeks to February 2 2003.
The Bonmarche chain, acquired last year, continues to be the star performer for Peacocks, with like-for-likes up 18 per cent. The core Peacocks chain is starting to see the benefits of a store refurbishment programme, with like-for-likes up 6 per cent.
The company said the performance “encourages management that expectations for the current financial year will be met and that the strategies being implemented across the group will continue to deliver improved performance.”
