Tesco has announced that its senior independent director Patrick Cescau is to retire from the board next month.
Cescau has been a non-executive director at Tesco for the last six years and led the search for the supermarket’s new chairman which resulted in the appointment of John Allan.
Richard Cousins, who joined the Tesco board last November, will become the new senior independent director on 7 April and will also join the Nominations Committee.
Allan said: “On behalf of the board, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Patrick for his immense contribution to the business over the past six years, and I wish him well in his future ventures. We will be sorry to see him leave.”
