Park Group appoints two non-exec directors

Gift voucher and prepaid gift card provider Park Group has appointed two new non-executive directors.

With effect from today, Laura Carstensen will chair the company’s audit committee while Michael de Kare-Silver will chair the remuneration committee.

Carstensen, a former partner in City law firm Slaughter and May, is a co-founder and director of online mail order businesses Blue Banyan and Hortica. She is also currently a member and former deputy chairman of the UK Competition Commission and a commissioner of the Equality & Human Rights Commission.

De Kare-Silver is an advisor and business consultant to the digital, e-commerce and mobile communications sectors, having previously served as a main board director at a number of companies including FTSE 100 GUS and FTSE 250 Thus Group. He also headed up Argos.co.uk, Experian.com and Burberry online as chief executive of GUSco.com.

Commenting on the appointments, Peter Johnson, chairman of Park, said: “I am very pleased to welcome Laura and Michael as non-executive directors of Park, their strong and relevant experience in both corporate governance and technology based businesses will be of particular benefit. They will undoubtedly make a significant contribution as we continue to evolve our business and customer offerings; embracing new technologies and web enabled solutions.”

Earlier this year Park Group announced that it had raised £4.41 million through a new shares placing as a means of funding its next phase of growth.
