Paddy Power announces senior management shake-up
Paddy Power has promoted Christian Woolfenden to the position of managing director for retail UK & Ireland.
Woolfenden has been the company’s global marketing director since 2011 after previously working as global brand director for Bacardi. Prior to this, he spent eight years at Procter & Gamble in finance and marketing roles.
The promotion is one of a series of management changes at Paddy Power that coincide with Andy McCue assuming the role of chief executive on 1 January.
Peter O’Donovan has been appointed as chief product officer to lead a newly created product function which brings together the technology and product development teams across Paddy Power and Cayetano in Bulgaria. In addition, the technology department of the group’s Australian business Sportsbet will have a dotted reporting line into O’Donovan and he will also co-ordinate global product innovation.
Never Miss a Retail Update!Meanwhile, Johnny Hartnett has been appointed as managing director for Paddy Power online with responsibility for paddypower.com and paddypower.it, together with Dial-a-Bet and customer operations. Hartnett is currently director of operations at Paddy Power and was previously chief operating officer for Sportsbet, and prior to that was head of sports risk & trading at Paddy Power.
McCue said: “These appointments reflect a strategic emphasis on customer and product. I am delighted to be filling these positions with high calibre individuals with a proven track record of success in the group.”
Paddy Power said a search process is underway to fill the role of marketing director.
