Oxfam to run fashion show with Neishaa Gharat at London Mela
Oxfam is to run a fashion show at the London Mela this weekend featuring new creations by Neishaa Gharat which have been made from clothing donated to the charity.
As official sponsor of the event, the charity has been working closely with the fashion designer who has used Oxfam sourced clothes and accessories to create a range of high fashion garments to be showcased on the catwalk.
Commenting on the fashion show, Gharat said: “I love shopping at Oxfam because it is shopping for a good cause. I have handpicked some fantastic finds from Oxfam donations to create the ensemble called the ‘Neishaa Gharat for Oxfam Collection’.
“We have also re-constructed key pieces with hand-made appliqué work. For example we have designed a butterfly garden on a Karen Millen dress and we are designing a scarf dress with beautiful Oxfam-donated silk scarves.”
Never Miss a Retail Update! On the day, models from TMP model agency will take to the catwalk with the aim of showing that Oxfam is a fashionable place to shop. After the event, all of Gharat’s catwalk creations will be available to buy on the Oxfam Online Shop.
Taking place on 1 September at London’s Gunnersbury Park, the London Mela celebrates the culture and creativity of South East Asia. Last year the event attracted 82,000 people.
