Oxfam to launch new online shopping site

Oxfam is launching a new online shopping website that will offer 50,000 garments and 160,000 books for sale through www.oxfam.org.uk/shop and a range of other ecommerce channels.

Milton Keynes Today has reported that the new venture will be based in the Wymbush area of the city and will need around 200 new volunteers to help run the operation.  This will include book and clothing sorters, listers, photographers and dispatch workers.  The site is due to launch on 2 June.

The news follows the recent announcement from online shopping reward site easyfundraising.co.uk that it has raised over £2 million for good causes since launching in 2005. The site offers consumers the opportunity to shop direct with over 2,000 online retailers such as John Lewis, Boden and Marks and Spencer, and donate 5%  of their total spend  to the charity of their choice.
