Osbornes Stationers enters administration

High street stationery chain Osbornes Stationers has entered administration putting 140 jobs at risk.

The 181 year old Birmingham based business, which operates 20 stores, has struggled against tough retail conditions and online competition in recent years.

Administrators at restructuring firm FRP Advisory were appointed on Monday.

Joint administrator Steven Stokes said: “We are focused on working with Osbornes’ customers and suppliers while we conduct a thorough sales process of the business to secure its long-term future.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

“Recently trading has been particularly hard, with Osbornes, like many other town centre retailers, suffering from further squeezes on consumers’ discretionary spending that has impacted the high street, as well as being in a particularly difficult and competitive sector.”

Osbornes has stores in the West Midlands, Warwickshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and single shops in Bristol, Tewkesbury, Worcester and Daventry.
