Original Penguin launches first European transactional website

Clothing retailer Original Penguin has launched its first European transactional website as part of owner Perry Ellis International’s plans to expand the brand across the UK and Europe.

Originalpenguin.co.uk will sell a range of menswear, ladieswear, footwear and accessories and will offer delivery to over 50 countries.

Francisco Gonzalez-Meza Hoffmann, managing director for UK and Ireland commented: “Engaging our Original Penguin customer through the online world is unquestionable the next step to expand the brand and interact with our fans across the UK.”

Martin Johnston, president, Perry Ellis Europe, added: “The launch of our first transactional website within Europe signifies our commitment to propel the brand forward into the digital space and to engage and learn more directly from our loyal customers.”

Founded in 1955 by Munsingwear in the US, Original Penguin opened a flagship store in London’s Covent Garden in 2008. This was followed by the launch of a new store in Westfield Stratford City in September 2011.
