Online sales raise Jessops game

Direct sales increased 88 per cent in the second half.

Sales for the 25 weeks to 24 September were up 6.8 per cent in total and up 3.6 per cent on a like for like basis. A strong performance from online sales offset a slight decline in like for like store sales.
Direct sales increased 88 per cent in the second half and accounted for around 10 per cent of total sales over the past three months.Fifteen new stores were opened in the year, bringing the total number of stores to 293.Chris Langley, Chief Executive of Jessops said ‘I am pleased that we have continued to deliver in line with expectations, particularly given market conditions that were more challenging than expected. Our success in improving margins, through exclusive products, own brand sales
and digital printing, has enabled us to offset the impact of the considerable sales volatility we have seen on the high street.
