Ocado festive sales up 14.8%

Ocado has reported that its gross retail sales rose by 14.8% year-on-year in December.
The online grocery retailer said sales reached nearly £6 million on its biggest trading day in the run-up to Christmas, which was an increase of over 15% on the previous year.
Also handling online deliveries for the Morrisons supermarket chain, Ocado said its customer fulfilment centres processed nearly 40% more items for Ocado.com and Morrisons.com in the seven days before Christmas compared to the same period last year.
Tim Steiner, chief executive of Ocado, said: “Our focus remained on delivering the highest service levels at this very important time for customers, while offering the widest range at competitive prices.”
