Oasis boss takes key role at Jacques Vert

Upmarket womenswear brand performing strongly in tough market
May 7 2003
Derek Lovelock, chief executive of womenswear retailer Oasis, is to become non-executive chairman of upmarket women’s fashion retailer Jaques Vert.

Lovelock, who has been a non-executive director of Jaques Vert for a year, takes up the role following the death of executive chairman, Bill Reid last month.
The appointment of Paul Allen as chief executive of Jacque Vert has also been confirmed. Allen, finance Director since 1997, is currently acting chief executive.
In other board changes, Chris Baker, a non-executive director and former corporate strategy director of Littlewoods, becomes non-executive deputy chairman. Chris was previously Plc until 2000. Tony Montgomery, a director of Jacques Vert who has been managing the integration of the William Baird clothing business acquired last year, is appointed to the Board as commercial director. The business is working to recruit a new finance director.
Jacque Vert said that since its last trading update at the end of January, the Jacques Vert brand has continued to perform strongly “in what have remained difficult market conditions.” The womenswear brands acquired through the Baird acquisition have continued to perform in line with expectations.
