Nokia closes online stores

Nokia, the Finnish mobile phone maker, has closed the last of its ten online stores. This follows the shuttering of all its UK retail stores earlier this month with the exception of the Heathrow Airport store which will remain open.

The company’s French, Spanish and Dutch online stores all went off line last month. Visitors to the online sales section of the US website are being directed to Amazon and visitors to the UK website are being referred to Nokia’s eight retail partners.

A spokesman for the Finnish based company is reported to have told Bloomberg: “We are simplifying our channel structures and focusing resources on our key retail and operator partners.”

Nokia’s partner-managed online stores will continue to operate in a number of countries including China, Brazil and Portugal.
