Nisa Retail grows store numbers

Symbol group Nisa Retail has revealed that it has boosted its membership numbers by 374 stores over the last nine months.

Recruitment was particularly strong in Nisa’s third quarter with 199 new stores joining the group in the period.

The announcement follows strong Christmas trading for the group when sales increased by 6.3% to £254 million in the 10 weeks to 3 January 2016.

With the number of retail sites supported by Nisa rising to over 3,000, the group said the growth reflected the progress made by the new management team since February 2015. As part of its turnaround, Nisa has focused on providing more competitive pricing and sharper promotional offers to retailers. At the same time, the group has improved its distribution and service offering, both to existing retailers and to a broader spectrum of businesses.

Nick Read, chief executive of Nisa Retail, said: “Nisa’s ability to serve and develop a wide range of business types, from symbol retailers through to independent groups, and new start-up operations that need intensive support, sets us apart from our competitors.

“Our improved retailer recruitment is a testament to our distribution, flexible service, popular chilled product range and award winning Heritage brand. In an increasingly competitive trading environment, it is our success in these areas that has convinced independent retailers to choose Nisa Retail, and we look forward to welcoming more retailers seeking to benefit from our leading services and scale.”
