Nisa mobile app helps make distribution more efficient

Symbol group Nisa has said it is delivering even greater efficiency to its members after launching a mobile app as part of its on-going investment in its distribution operation.

The group has recently introduced a mobile app which allows the hire and contractor vehicles in its fleet to be tracked anywhere in the UK.

Regular Nisa and DHL fleet vehicles servicing Nisa members have operated a vehicle tracking system for over a year to inform retailers of expected delivery times. However, the new mobile app enables all contract vehicles serving Nisa members to be tracked by retailers via their smartphones.

With a complete picture of the delivery progress of members’ orders available Nisa can now provide up-to-date intelligence including the distribution of delivery delay and arrival at store notification via SMS text or email. The group said that the improved information platform and communication device has resulted in no member orders being affected by the recent flooding with a successful delivery on day rate of 99.9% in recent weeks.

Never Miss a Retail Update!

“We have a trusted, award winning distribution network, but we knew there were still improvements to make, particularly around the communication of order progress to our members,” said Jon Stowe, distribution director for Nisa Retail.

“The launch of the mobile app is one of a number of innovations we’ve brought into the business to improve our capacity to communicate more efficiently with our members. This development, alongside others such as the introduction of regular driver routes, has improved our ability to react to the recent adverse weather conditions to ensure that our members can continue to serve their communities.”
