Next to roll out garden centres

Next, the high street fashion and homewares retailer, is planning a move into the garden centre sector following the success of a pilot outlet in Shoreham in Sussex.

The retailer has submitted planning applications for five new home and garden centres in the south of England and has identified a total of 19 suitable sites for the new format stores which will also sell fashion, homewares and DIY products.

The news follows Next’s announcement of its first half trading results earlier this month in which it raised its profit guidance to between £575 million and £620 million for this financial year.
