New stores increase Carpetright’s sales
Carpetright saw an increase in sales in the third quarter, driven largely by new floor space.
The group said its UK and Republic of Ireland business recorded a total sales increase of 7.0 per cent for the third quarter to 27 January 2007, while like for like sales increased by just 0.1 per cent. Carpetright said it plans to continue its store expansion programme with plans for a further 20 by the year end. The Rest of Europe recorded a total sales increase of 12.5 per cent with like for like sales up by 4.9 per cent. Lord Harris of Peckham, Chairman and Chief Executive, said ‘We are satisfied with our overall performance. The Group has continued to grow sales in all of its businesses with new space contributing strongly. We are especially pleased with the performance of our concessions stores.’
