Nigel Samuels join board of revamped retailer

Electrical retailer New PowerHouse has appointed Nigel Samuels as commercial director.
Samuels joins the senior management team takes immediate effect twelve weeks after a network of 134 PowerHouse stores was rescued from receivership by the New Zealand based Pacific Retail Group, headed by chief executive Peter Halkett.
Samuels new role includes the responsibility for brand, product marketing, buying, marketing communications and inventory planning functions.
The former sales and marketing director of Seeboard Energy and previous to that, managing director of Seeboard Electrical Superstores, Samuels began his career with Dixons.
Samuels said: “I am looking forward to strengthening and establishing my new team very quickly, as well as, building relationships with our key suppliers. I am keen to explore the opportunities and relish the challenges that working at New PowerHouse will present.”
Halkett said: “I am delighted to welcome Nigel to the senior team at New PowerHouse and am confident that his skills coupled with his in-depth knowledge of the market and his business turnaround experience, will have a significant impact on the company’s retail strategy.”
