New operations manager steps up at Charles Clinkard

Footwear retailer Charles Clinkard has appointed Richard Dawson as branch operations manager for its southern region. In his new role, Dawson will oversee 18 stores including retail shops, outlets and a concession unit.

Commenting on his appointment he said: “It’s important to help staff excel at what they do while also delivering excellent customer service. I want to help to drive efficiency in the business and improve the customer shopping experience.

“It’s great to work for a company that cares about their people as much as they care about the customer so I’m delighted to have joined the team.”

Dawson is currently working to update internal systems and is undertaking a new time management drive to boost efficiency. His main priority will be to improve the high levels of customer service in store and deliver training to facilitate improvements.

Originally from Wrexham in North Wales, Dawson started his career 26 years ago at weekends on the shop floor before working his way up to trainee manager. He has worked for two other major footwear retailers during his career.

A family run business, Charles Clinkard was started in Middlesbrough in 1924 and now employs more than 550 people around the country across 34 stores.
