New MD at Fortnum & Mason

Beverley Aspinall joins upmarket retailer
Fortnum & Mason has appointed Beverley Aspinall as its new managing director.

Aspinall joins the upmarket retailer from the John Lewis Partnership, where as managing director of Peter Jones she has overseen the refurbishment of the landmark Chelsea department store.
Aspinall joined John Lewis from university in 1981. In her new role, which she takes up in the New Year, she replaces Stuart Gates, who left Fortnum & Mason earlier this year.
Fortnum & Mason chairman Jana Khayat said: “We have seen a number of outstanding candidates, and we are all thrilled that Beverley will be joining us at such an exciting time for Fortnums, as we approach our 300th anniversary in 2007.”
