New centres boosts Blooms of Bressingham
Garden centre retailer set for peak season
Blooms of Bressingham is banking on the opening of new garden centres to drive sales as the peak sales season gets underway.
Blooms said that its new centre in Gloucester, which has 55,000 sq ft of heated covered space, has traded “substantially ahead of expectations” since it opened on March 1.
Another new centre, with 43,000 sq ft of heated covered space, opens on a greenfield site at Rugby today. The centre has taken seven months to build from scratch, but is opening two weeks later than originally planned, so missing the Easter weekend which traditionally kicks off the garden retailing season.
The company said: “Both Gloucester and Rugby represent Blooms’ policy of developing large, much more active sites. The two centres have added over 60 per cent to last year’s retailing space.”
